Community - Community Trail Project
Community Trail Project
Communities within the Medway Gap have a fantastic opportunity to create a community trail around their local area, thanks to funding by Valley of Visions.
The aim of the community trail project is to encourage people to explore, enjoy and learn about their local area and surrounding countryside. The grant can be used for physical improvements to the trail and to also enhance user enjoyment through interpretation such as producing a trail leaflet.
The project is being delivered to communities in two phases:
1. Burham, Wouldham & Snodland (completed - leaflets available to download below)
2. Halling, Strood, Aylesford & Cuxton (underway)
Some communities have been paired to re-establish links that would have traditionally existed, for example, Halling & Wouldham would have been linked by the ferry across the river Medway.
Each community will launch its trail with a celebration event which the whole community (and people from other communities and further afield are welcome to attend). As part of the Engaging Landscapes project, art workshops are being delivered by artists to a range of local groups in each community from brownies and beavers to primary schools and youth groups, to produce art work and performances for the launch event.
For further information, please visit the individual community pages under the community header.
