Get Out in the Medway Gap

Far-reaching views across the Medway Valley and beyond, a rich network of rights of way and a beautiful landscape of chalk downland, woodland and reedbeds; this is a wonderful but under-explored area of the Kent countryside.

However, although paths and tracks offer visitors a wealth of opportunities to explore, many are under-promoted and some poorly linked, making the Medway Gap a very much under-used area of countryside.

Valley of Visions is working on a number of fronts to both improve the quality of existing routes as well as creating new links within the path network. Visitors to the countryside of the valley will be able to experience new routes along the banks of the river Medway take advantage of new multi-user links that improve opportunities for cyclists and horse riders as well as walkers. In addition, the ground-breaking Securing the Landscape project is already creating safer routes by preventing illegal and inappropriate access on the rights of way.

For those wanting to explore the area there are opportunities to join local experts on guided walks and events. With walks designed specifically for the novice walker as well as the more experienced rambler, there really is no excuse not to Get Out in the Gap!
